The Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano set the lap record for a production car on the 3.925km Indianapolis Circuit, recording an impressive lap time of 1: 29.625 seconds and reaching the top speed of 281 km / h.

“It was truly a thrill to witness the extraordinary performance of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale which set this new lap record on July 15th,” says Mark Raffauf, Senior Director of Race Operations at the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), who has supervised the test.

“The Indianapolis Circuit was built in 1909 as a test bed for cars of all brands and we have stayed true to that DNA ever since. Whether it's racing behind the wheel of purpose-built racing cars or setting new standards for production cars, the IMS's historic 2.5-mile oval and challenging road course continue to be unparalleled catalysts for development and automotive sector performance. In 112 years of history it has always been very exciting to witness these important milestones, ”said J. Douglas Boles, President of IMS.

"The name SF90 Stradale is a tribute to Scuderia Ferrari's 90 years and underlines the fundamental role that motorsports have in the development of road cars", says Matteo Torre, President of Ferrari North America, "so it was quite natural to have on track this weekend the SF90 Stradale here at the Indianapolis Circuit during the Ferrari Racing Days, where the Ferrari Challenge, the F1 Clienti activities and the XX Programs were also held ”.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the Prancing Horse's most powerful car ever and its first production PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). A model with extreme characteristics, which represents a real change of paradigm because it offers unprecedented performance, never seen on a production car. 1,000 hp, weight / power ratio of 1.57 kg / hp and 390 kg of downforce at 250 km / h: numbers that place the SF90 Stradale at the top of its segment and also show how, for the first time ever in the history of brand, it is a V8 that is the top model of the range.

Customers can choose between the SF90 Stradale and a version that further accentuates the car's strong sporting vocation. The Assetto Fiorano includes significant upgrades, including special Multimatic shock absorbers that derive from the world of GT racing, lightness at the highest levels thanks to high-performance materials - such as carbon fiber (door panels, underbody) and titanium (springs, entire exhaust line) - which lighten the car by 30 kg. Another difference is the high downforce carbon fiber rear spoiler which generates 390 kg of downforce at 250 km / h. The Assetto Fiorano can be ordered with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2R tires specifically designed to improve dry track performance, as happened at Indy to set the lap record.
